Fiona Newton

LLB (Hons), BCom (VPM)

Fiona joined Wills Westenra in March 2021 to focus primarily on family law. Previously Fiona worked for the Mangere Community Law Centre, South Auckland, with a focus on family and minor criminal law. Prior to this she interned with Counties Manukau Police Prosecutions.

Fiona was born in Wellington but has lived in a number of locations, including in the US. She considers Arapohue her tūrangawaewae from her formative years and is pleased to finally return to Northland.

Having spent 20+ years working in commercial property Fiona made the transition from “te whenua” to “te tāngata” for the second half of her career. She is passionate about helping people move through the challenges that find them in the Family Court. One of her goals is to provide positive support to whānau as they embark on new seasons of their lives.

Fiona met her husband at Lincoln University. They have two sons, one at Lincoln and one considering Lincoln for 2022 – almost empty nesters (excepting the family Labradoodle, Tai). As a whānau they enjoy traveling together, in and out of New Zealand. Outside of work Fiona is regularly found spending time outdoors, engaged in home improvement projects, reading (usually multi-tasking with an audio book) and attending a local church (in no particular order).
