Maria joined Wills Westenra in March 2016 to concentrate on Family Law. She has a particular interest in Domestic Violence and Care of Children matters, and also enjoys Relationship Property and Estates work.
Maria accepts assignments as lawyer for child, representing children in the Family Court
Maria was born and educated in Whangarei, but spent 11 years in the United Kingdom where she worked in business management. During this time she travelled extensively throughout Europe.
Maria returned to Whangarei in 2003 to spend time with family, and refocus her career, working for the Maori Land Court and as a Family Court Registrar specialising in Care of Children cases, before settling on Law as her new field of work.
Maria returned to Waikato University in 2011 as an adult student, achieving First Class Honours in her Law Degree. She was admitted to the Bar in May 2015. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree awarded in 1991.
Maria is passionate about travel, films, music, technology, reading and spending time with family. She supports Tryphina House Women’s Refuge in her spare time.
